Better than traditional examination

Most neurodegenerative processes have a silent phase

Most of neurodegenerative diseases are known to begin months or years before emergence of the first clinically detectable abnormalities. Patients are often asymptomatic or sometimes have subtle and non specific complaints but the traditional neurological examination can not detect any abormality at those very early stages.

More challenging tasks can highlight abnormalities undetected by the traditional examination

Some studies have shown, for example in multiple sclerosis, that more challenging tasks assessing dexterity or balance could highlight subtle abnormalities in MS patients with an EDSS score at 0 (ie. with a normal traditional examination).
Detecting those subtle abnormalities may be relevent to improve disease detection and monitoring.

Digital tools can provide innovative examination tools

Digital tools can provide an easily accessible way to improve the accuracy of the neurological examination. Sensors integrated to most of consumer devices can provide quantified and accurate measures, allowing to design challenging and innovative tasks to assess dexterity, cognition, vision or even eye tracking.

The apps we develop have demonstrated their ability to detect worse performances in subjects with MS with a normal clinical examination or preclinical stage of MS (radiologically isolated syndrome) also defined by the absence of abnormaity on a traditional examination.

Brain NET is different from patients self monitoring apps

Brain NET develops digital tools that are restricted to the healthcare professionals. Apps should be used in order to improve the accuracy of the clinical examination during consultations.
Brain NET is designed in order to detect invisible abnormalities that traditional exam is not able to find, while patients self monitoring apps are more oriented towards self monitoring of disease-related symptoms.
